GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Gadsden County homeowners want to remind people there are plenty of opportunities to go out on the water while maintaining social distancing.

While there aren't many Airbnb's in the county, people are using other sites like VRBO to rent out their homes on Lake Talquin.

Commissioners voted to allow rentals to re-open under a 25 percent capacity, even though Governor Ron DeSantis' order allows 50 percent.

One homeowner says during the pandemic she's had to be extra careful who she rents to but says people find it a perfect place to fish and relieve some stress.

"You know, I'm very cautious about the renters that I pick," said Margueritte Jackson. "Mostly family-oriented or business oriented and we're lucky that we have a great property. We came to the property and saw that there's no real opportunity for family gatherings because the fish camps around here are mostly male-oriented."

Jackson says she's booked most of the summer but still available through this weekend.
